Our Season So Far...
PSA v Inspired - 14/12/2025
That's Futsal! Our open age team were given the earliest possible start in our League Cup Quarter Final in Leicester v PSA Derby, which threatened to derail our attempt to progress in the competition, but rather than be annoyed and let it bother us, the boys all did what they needed to do and got the early night for an early start and let our game do the talking. Taking a well-deserved 2-0 lead early on, a mistake from a kick-in followed by a very dubious penalty brought the hosts level. However we made our superiority tell as we took the lead before HT. In the second half we went up another gear, defending fly aggressively, using press-breakers and dominated possession, putting PSA to the sword with 5 unanswered goals to take a convincing win and move into the semi finals against a strong Leicester Athletic team who beat our neighbours Sala in their QF. That concludes the first half of a very positive season, finishing runners up in the qualifying stage to make the next phase in the league and reach the semi final of the cup. We now need to take a good break over Christmas and build on the foundation we have laid, getting stronger for the big challenge ahead, but not before a well-earned Christmas party this week for the boys. 1-2-3 Inspired!!!
Not the best performance from the boys today, but kudos to our opponents who would have been forgiven for laying down after last week’s scoreline, but they came after us from the get go with a solid plan and took a 2-0 and 3-1 lead and they deserved to be further ahead in fairness at the break, but for Jake in our goal turning in a top quality performance again. A few home truths and tweaks on the formation at half time and we pulled one back early on, before conceding again to sit at 2-4. It stayed that way for a few minutes, but as they called a time-out we tweaked again and only then did we get into gear and a more effective press allowed us to turn the ball over more and after going 5-4 up and being pegged back to 5-5, we then took control and completed an 8 goal haul in a 6 minute spell that got us over the line in a game that could/should have been beyond us more than once. Not happy with the performance, but sometimes we just have to get out with the points and be grateful. It’s our first win up there in Barrow in three seasons of trying, so I’m happy we managed to overcome that demon and happy to be sat top of the league with two games to go before the league splits. One more point guarantees us qualification.
